The Smoke-free Environments (Tobacco Plain Packaging) Amendment Bill passed its first reading by 118 votes to one.
The Bill has was referred to the Health Select Committee for public consultation.
The Committee met on 16 April 2014 to hear evidence on the Bill and will meet on 7 May 2014, in Auckland to hear further on plain packaging.
