International research

As well as producing our own research, ASH places a priority on keeping pace with international research on tobacco control. We actively monitor and analyse international policy and research developments which places us in an ideal position to provide comprehensive advice to our key stakeholders throughout the policy development process. We share this evidence with local and national representatives to enable policy makers to progress with decisions that will affect the outcome of tobacco control legislation in New Zealand. We also use this research to shape ASH’s own priority campaigns – standardised packaging, increased tobacco taxes, and the introduction of tobacco retail licensing.
