ASH works with the government, all political parties, our sector and ethnic communities to achieve a shared vision of a Smokefree New Zealand by 2025. Our priority for the next three years (2015-2018) is to help advance campaigns on standardised packaging, tobacco tax increases, and the introduction of tobacco retail licensing. As evidence evolves further we remain flexible in supporting other effective measures.
Our evidence, and other domestic and international research, shows that standardised packaging, tobacco tax increases, and the introduction of tobacco retail licensing are effective measures in achieving a smoke free country. Our aim is to contribute to the national conversation and enable political representatives to make informed decisions with honest and logical evidence.
