An open letter on vaping legislation

It has been a year since Minister Jenny Salesa promised legislation to regulate vaping and yet we are still waiting.

Today an open letter addressed to Minister Salesa, penned by over 50 of New Zealand’s health organisations, academics and representatives of the school community, was sent to the Minister, urging her to urgently introduce legislation into the House to regulate vaping.

There are several views on the best way to regulate the vaping industry, market and use of products. However, on thing everyone agrees on is that the current unregulated market is not ideal and does not serve to support smokers with well informed advice and high quality products.

The status quo is also not doing enough to discourage young never smokers from vaping, or protect them from accessing products.
