Plain packaging

In  February 2013 the Government announced that it intends to introduce legislation requiring plain packaging for all tobacco products sold in New Zealand.  ASH supports this measure in reducing the appeal of tobacco to children, and enhancing the impact of graphic health warnings for existing smokers.

Latest smoking data

The latest data shows 18 per cent of New Zealand adults were current smokers in 2011/12, down from 20 per cent in 2006/07.
