Nicotine replacement therapy
Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) come in the form of patches, gums and sprays. It helps to overcome the physical cravings for a cigarette and withdrawal symptoms like anxiety and irritability. Research has shown that NRT is helpful to people giving up smoking. However, it is even more helpful when use alongside advice and support programmes. Smokers can receive subsidised nicotine replacement therapy from the government through the Quitline 0800 778 778, Aukati Kai Paipa or other health providers.
